LANIER

THOUGHTFUL LEADERSHIP

 FOR

ALL OUR SCHOOLS

Fellow Transylvanians,

My name is John Lanier and I am running for a seat on the Transylvania County Board of Education.

As a 44-year resident of Transylvania County, I know our community and its schools well. Our children have attended or my wife and I have taught at every public school in the county except two - Davidson River and T. C. Henderson.

As a local journalist, I spent years covering the work of our community’s governing bodies, including the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners, Brevard City Council, the Rosman Board of Alderman, and the Transylvania County Board of Education, as well as the Brevard Academy Board of Directors. In total, I covered more than 100 Board of Education meetings, giving me a deep understanding of how our school system operates.

My goal is simple: to ensure that every student in Transylvania County Schools is supported, challenged, and prepared to succeed—not only in school, but in life.

To move toward that goal, we must remain focused on the needs of two essential groups: students and teachers. When students are supported and teachers are respected and empowered, strong schools follow.

Ultimately, I want our school system to prepare students so well that when they apply for a job or to a college, the response is immediate: “We want this student.”

I encourage you to explore this site to learn more about my experience, perspectives, and approach to education. If you have questions, I would welcome the opportunity to hear from you.Thank you for your time and consideration.

On November 3rd, vote for John Lanier for School Board
